Nancy Leggett-Bachand is a law school graduate from l’Université du Québec à Montréal and was appointed at the Quebec Bar in 1992, at the age of 22. While working as a litigator, she studied at night in public relations and journalism. She then attended full time HEC Montréal to obtain a Graduate Diploma in Management.
Mrs Leggett-Bachand counts now more than 15 years of experience in the not-for profit sector. She has been communications manager for a sports/tourism association and now is executive director of Hebdos Quebec which represents 150 French community newspapers, owned by Medias Transcontinental, Quebecor and independents. She believes in the strength of bringing individuals together for a common purpose. Creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship are key elements in her daily role, especially in the fast-changing print media industry.
The Société québécoise des professionnels en relations publiques has recognized her with an Equinoxe Award for one of Hebdos Quebec’s Integrated Communications Campaign. One of her convictions is that reading and writing are fundamental for everyone to enhance both the individual’s and the society’s quality of life. She has been involved for many years with the Literacy Foundation for whom she found many new donators. She is also the proud mother of two children.
