Karen Lonz is an On-Air Director of News and Information Programming at CHCH Television in Hamilton, Ontario. A graduate of the Television Broadcasting program at Mohawk College, Karen has accumulated over 20 years of Television Production experience. In her 10 years as a Director, Karen has been part of thousands of live television productions – from news and interview shows, to sports magazine and sports related programming. Karen has also worked as Production Assistant and Assistant Director for various television stations, most memorably, The Sports Network, where she spent 3 years traveling and working on Blue Jays Baseball broadcasts in the early 90’s. In 1998, Karen was the Production Coordinator for the launch of the Crossroads Television System, and continued on to launch several programs for CTS.

In addition to her duties at CHCH, Karen also works as an instructor in the Journalism Program at the University of Guelph Humber in Toronto, a program in which students are required to produce several newscasts throughout the semester. Karen is an integral part of these productions, helping students with newsroom software programs as well as teaching them the technical components of a professional news studio. As a result, the students get the best “real world” experience possible, and have an understanding of what is involved in the production of a daily newscast.
